Hey y’all,
Please pardon the delay. Your boy has been busy. I moved back to the NYC at the end of May and immediately jumped on tour with my homies The Pimps Of Joytime. I am currently managing/tour managing the PJT’s for those that don’t know. So anyway we hit Charlotte, Asheville, Atlanta, Birmingham, Oxford, Ozark (Wakarusa festival) and St. Louis. I had fun in each place but I gotta say Asheville, NC and St. Louis were stand outs for me. After being home in NYC for two weeks which included a gig with the Pimps at Brooklyn Bowl, I’m back on the road. Driving from BK to Salt Lake to Idaho (BTW Idaho is DOPE!!!) and now we just arrived at Yosemite National Park. In the words of Black Rob….WHOA!!! Yosemite is stunningly beautiful and we get to spend two nights in this dream. We are then headed to perform in San Luis Obispo, Santa Monica (Afro Funke) and finally High Sierra for July 4th weekend. I get the pleasure of spinning a set during the Pimps of Joytime/New Master Sounds late night session on the 4th. Hope to see some of y’all along the way. Live Life. Till next time…Peace.

Friday May 21st Mars Bar 798 Brannon/7th, SF
My homie Toph One hit me to do this benefit gig: TeamWino rides on our 6th Aids-Lifecycle bicycle journey from SF to LA in June, & we invite you to come celebrate Life & music with us at our final fundraiser before the Ride!
The brother Toph One is a San Francisco native son who’s words have been printed across many a musical magazine page. He has been and continues to be a well recognized force on the bay area DJ scene spinning since the early 90’s. Toph rocks parties on weekly basis and you can find him every Wednesday at Dalve (16th & Valencia) spinning with the who’s who of whatever wherever with whomever….who the hell doesn’t know Toph? I see him as a wonderful source of knowledge of many great things including great music that transcends many genres and generations. Toph is also an avid bike rider…..pause….he tried to kill me on a ride to the Giants game last week……Ok, so Toph rides his bike every single day of the year. And he is riding all the way to L.A. from SF to raise money and awareness for Aids. C’mon folks how could you not love this guy? Yes… Team Wino is making shit happen and you can too. Just come out tonight, pay a small donation of $10 (Just think of all the dumb shit you spend a 10 on) and we’re gonna show you a good time. DJ’s Toph One (Red Wine Social, Team Wino), Timoteo Gigante (Team Wino), Senor Oz (Afrolicious), E Da Boss (Slept on, Om Records) DJ Concerned (BK to the Bay) 5 DJ’s=fun.

As promised (to myself) I’m updating my website on much more regular basis as to share with you all a bit of my life as well as my DJ career. It’s about 2am pacific time on Saturday May 15th 2010. As many of you reading this know, I moved out to San Francisco early this year to further pursue my DJ career and take a look at the other side of this beautiful country. Part of the reason I came to the city of cable cars, tolerance, burritos, progressive thinking, fresh air, dope DJ’s, hills, coffee and well… fog, was to work with a crew, a collective if you will. Know to the bay and beyond as Non Stop Bhangra. Every third Thursday of each month for the past five plus years NSB transforms the Rickshaw Stop into a cultural club party that leaves fans sweaty, happy and enlightened. I was given the opportunity to be a resident DJ at this party and I’m eternally grateful. I have decided to move back to NYC at the end of this month and this Saturday night will be my last go round at the party that truly lives up to it’s name “Non Stop Bhangra”. A special thank you goes out to Vicki, Jimmy and Suman for having me on board and letting me spin for the great people of San Francisco. You have an amazing night in an amazing city with wonderful people all around you. All the luck in the world to you in taking it to wherever you want it to go. A big thanks and love goes to Rav-E, resident DJ and Dhol player who I’ve seen grow so much as both those things in a very short time. (Remember what I told you) The MC’s Mandeep & Collage for their abundant energy and always making me look better. (See you in NYC) To all the lovely ladies of Dhol Rhythms who embody femininity and grace and put in a lot of hard work to entertain and inspire. To Hina who has the voice of an angel and a real fun loving personality. Shalu the Photographer, who captures all the magic and makes her magic in doing so. Marcus, who does a live painting each month of things my brain can’t even dream of. I’ve stood over your shoulder in awe many a time. Amar, the man whose live visuals transform that room into a new time and space that goes from psychedelic to bollywood seamlessly. Bryan, holding down the bass…funky brother.. funky. I also want to mention Rup, who I’ve not seen since I’ve been here but have rocked with at this party on prior dates and the dudes got talent. Last but not least. The party people that show up to dance, learn and laugh. You all make it worth while to be a DJ in this crazy world. Thank you for your support, energy and love. So, let’s tear this shit down tonight And party like tomorrow ain’t promised…cause it ain’t. Life is for Living and Love is for giving. See ya at the Rickshaw Stop.

Yo! Whatcha up to? Wanna go out? Yeah!!! Tonight Thursday May 13th I’m spinning at Dalva (16th st off Valencia) with some real great DJ’s and wonderful people ta boot. DJ’s Mamabear and Idiom hold down every Thursday night at the always fun and funky Dalva. The night is called “BLACK CRACK” (you can figure that name out for yourself) and you’ll hear Boom Bap era Hip Hop, Soul, Boogie, Disco and whatever the hell else they wanna play. Got a request? Good for you…Keep it to yourself. I’m actually going to be spinning this night my last two Thursdays in SF but my homie Mamabear will only be there tonight. SO, do yourself a favor and get up off your duff and enjoy yourself. The bartender is a REAL bartender. (not like someone I know) He makes delicious drinks and their beer selection is second to none. No Bud, Miller, Heineken or other run of the mill…crap. That’s right those beers are crap. Try a Trumer Pils. (my personal favorite) Alright, that is my rant for today. Here is a pic for you viewing pleasure….Happy Birthday Stevie Wonder!

Hello world. Below are some shows I have coming up. I hope you can attend one that fits your musical vibe. Check “Shows” tab for more info.
This Wednesday Gozar! at the Elbo Room. I have some very special guests coming in to wreck shop. Vinnie Esparza (Groove Merchant Records) SF has been a long time fixture on the DJ scene in San Francisco. Well respected by his fellow DJ’s, with a reputation for a deep knowledge of latin based music as well as being voted best DJ in the Bay area. Have no doubt this guy is going to keep you on your feet and teach a thing or two in the process. Also on the set is DJ Beto. Best know for being the selector for the now famous Soundway Columbia compilation. Beto is another Bay area local who has honed his craft as a DJ and great over selector of Latin tunes. And coming straight from Brooklyn, NY is DJ Unico. Somewhat of an underground legend Unico is known to keep folks dancing till the wee hours of the morning weather he spins Funk-Soul-Hip Hop or fired up Latin Joints. He is not to be missed in his first Bay area appearance is quite some time. In addition to these killer DJ’s we will be joined on live congas by the one and only B. Lee. Holding it down for two years at the ever popular Afrolicious party and now making some appearances with the Afrofunk Experience. B. plays with passion and soul and we’re happy to have him along for the ride.

Friday April 16th I will be at the Boom Boom Room (1601 Fillmore) Opening for the Afrofunk Experience.
Saturday April 17th. Non Stop Bhangra is back at the Rickshaw.

Hey kids…I’ve been waiting for this moment to happen for quite some time and I can hardly contain myself that it’s finally arrived. The Hot 8 Brass from New Orleans Louisiana are on their way to the bay area. And you need to experience them.. I first saw the Hot 8 play down in the N.O. at the now legendary Cafe Brasil on Frenchman street. It was my second time to New Orleans, first time for the Jazz & Heritage festival that takes place every year the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May. I was aware of the brass hop style that has been going on in New Orleans for some time now. Good friend and Pimps of Joytime percussionist Chauncey Yearwood had been down to the Crescent city a few months earlier and brought back an album by the Rebirth Brass Band. I was lovin it but hadn’t seen this music performed live..till now. So check it out.. the Hot 8 step up on the stage all nonchalant and easy with it. The snare drummer player starts rippin a beat, the bass drum player joins in and then here come the horns. WOW! Dope. I was hooked in one minute. I remember hearing the 8 play E Flat Blues aka Big Fat Woman that night and I can still hear it in my head today. After watching many more shows, a critically acclaimed mixtape by yours truly and performing three shows together in NYC…the Hot 8 are in my new stomping grounds of San Francisco. Saturday April 3rd they are at the New Parish in Oakland and Sunday April 4th we are together once again at the Boom Boom Room in the legendary Fillmore District. Check the flier below for details. They are also scheduled to perform an in-store at Amoeba records on Haight at 3pm Sunday. I hope you’ll treat yourself and see these guys before they head back to the Bayou….”I got a big fat woman that love me all night long” “Don’t tell nobody”….

As some of you may or may not know I’m a native New Yorker and have never lived outside of the big apple….until now. I moved out to San Francisco January 13th of 2010. Further pursuing my career as a full time DJ. I’d been coming to San Francisco every few months for the last four years as a tourist and a DJ and found it to be an amazing place. After much thought and many conversations with loved ones I took the leap and left my home of 33 years to embrace the bay area. This is a first for me so the transition wasn’t an easy one. I left many things back in New York including people I love immensely. I have no idea what is going to happen here but I’m glad I took the chance. I will be forever changed for getting on that plane and saying many hard goodbyes. I guess I write this to vent…a bit and to let you know..life is a journey and chances are worth taking. You may have your ideas about how things will go but trust me you’ll never know till you get there. It’s like imaging what someone’s house or apartment looks like before you’ve ever been there and then when you get there it’s nothing like you imagined. May you find peace wherever you find yourself.

Allo is influenced by the soul and style of artists such as Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Michael Jackson, Jill Scott, Floetry, D’Angelo, Dolly Parton and India.Arie.
If you were to categorize her music, it would require a new genre: Alter.Hip.Soul: A mix of alternative, hip-hop, and soul.
